Assignment Task:

Task:

Choose ONE of the following social problems (in the Australian context): mental illness, family violence, or economic inequality. Choose ONE of the three key sociological perspectives (functionalism, conflict theory, or symbolic interactionism) discussed in weeks 2-4 to explain the phenomenon. In your answer, you will need to demonstrate an understanding of the nature and extent of the ‘problem’ before applying your chosen sociological theory.

In the Collabs this essay is described as an argumentative essay and basically what the information is asking you is HOW your particular theory can be applied to your particular social problem.
What you have to argue is that your theory of choice can explain the social problem.
If there was the be a particular question, I would say it would be something along the lines on (note: this is just an example) quot; How does symbolic interactionalism theory explain family and domestic violence?"
