Struggling Writer One -page.
After completing the Unit 5 readings, use the information presented in Chapter 11, specifically in Figure 11.4, to create a One-Pager that illustrates your understanding of
who struggling writers are, what characteristics they may exhibit, and how, as teachers, we can best go about providing the instruction and support needed to positively impact their future writing skills. Review the One Pager instructions below for specifics for this task. Then, using the Internet browser of your choice (Chrome, Firefox, MS Edge), search for “sample One Pager,” “One Pager examples,” or similar combinations of related terms to get a better idea of what the process, content, and completed might look like. There are many variations, and you are encouraged to use creativity and explore your options.

 

Follow the instructions below to create your One-Pager. You may either create it digitally or by hand.

  • Use unlined white paper or a blank Word document.
  • Title the One-Pager appropriately to reflect the content. For this assignment, you title will be something related to "Struggling Writers" using the information presented in Figure 11.4 in Chapter 11 of your text.
  • Use colored pens, pencils, or markers or similar graphics tools available if you opt for the digital format. The more visually appealing it is, the more your peers will learn.
  • Fill the entire page.
  • Be purposeful about the arrangement of your One-Pager. For example, have a reason for using a certain color or for placing an object in a certain place.
  • Select and include 2 - 3 quotations from the reading or other related resource.
  • Use the proper grammatical format.
  • Include at least 5 visual images, either drawn, cut out from magazines or other books, etc., or created digitally to create a central focus for your page. If you use a computer images personalize it to make it your own.
  • Select and place 5 essential vocabulary words/phrases around the images. These terms/words/phrases should express the central (main) ideas, your impressions, feelings, thoughts, or understandings about what you have seen or read.
  • Include the central (main) idea of the reading.
