Assignment 1 – Application of Knowledge
Assessment 1 is a suite of stand-alone, open-book, problem based multiple choice quizzes designed to assess for knowledge of global health concepts and skills pertaining to the interpretation of data on global health trends. In weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12, a 10-item quiz (will be on LEO for up to 48 hours (2 days) from 10am Wednesday to 10am Friday of the scheduled week). Once commenced the quiz must be completed within 2 hours. You are unable to re-do the quiz. Answers will be posted 1 week after close off. Students unable to complete the quiz by the due date will score zero.

Assignment 2 – Analytical Task
Assessment 2 comprises the submission of two 500-word (or equivalent) discussion responses to a given question. Each question links to one of the two broad course topics of Determinants of Global Health and Burden of Disease. The discussion questions will be posted to LEO along with a detailed assessment guide and marking rubric. The responses are collaborative activities by which a student will post an original, fully referenced discussion response to a group Wiki, Padlet or blog and course participants invited to provide constructive comments. The analytical responses can be in written or oral form via a video blog.
Assignment 3 – Authentic Assessment Report
Students are asked to authentically assess a strategy for treatment or prevention of global health disease, through adopting the role of a global health worker. As a global health worker you are given a choice of case study scenarios, each scenario presents a global health problem and your role is to
propose a strategy which will improve the health of the population group you are working with. The proposed strategy is based on credible evidence from academic peer-reviewed sources, recommended texts and readings, government and non-government organisation reports from global health
organisations such as World Health Organisation. Assessment Task 2 will scaffold to Assessment Task 3 (details in LEO).
The scenarios will be presented in Week 7, Assessment Module: Working in Global Health Assessment Scenarios. This module contains the case study scenarios to complete Assessment 3 task and is accompanied by a detailed Assessment Guide and Rubrics on LEO. The authentic assessment task will also be discussed during fortnightly Skype sessions to assist students in undertaking task requirements. The report is an academic piece of work based on a minimum of 8 credible sources including the course text, be properly referenced, original and a complete Reference List attached (Note: Reference list is not included in word length).
