Internal Code:IICI Assessment Task 1

Assessment name: Critical Analysis

Task description:

This assessment requires you to apply skills in critically analysing research approaches to answer clinical practice issues.

What you need to do:

Read the Criterion Reference Assessment sheet for this task.

The assessment is comprised of two parts, explained below.

Part One:

Critical Debate

Critical Debate In assigned groups, during the Week 5 workshop, you will examine a clinical practice issue and collaborate with your group to take part in an in-class debate to determine the evidence that could be used to find solutions to this issue. Specifically, this part of the task asks you to use evidence and apply your knowledge of different research approaches, to present an effective argument. In your teams of approximately 6, you will be assigned to one of the four topics

As Candace and Kath said that, we have more argument strong than them, The first point I would like to bring forward is something crucial: Inflexibility does not meet patient’s needs. Research conducted by

Shekelle

suggests that even if the aspect of nurse-to-patient ratios were to be administered in the health care system, the caring needs for patients with complicated conditions such as chronic illnesses were not meet. This is because some of the nurses assigned various duties fell lack of experiences and skills needed to care for such patients. Also that mandated nurse-to-patient ratios trigger the loss of flexibility and autonomy among nurses.

For example, There are fewer nurses, all working longer hours and rushing through more patients during every shift,. Every working shift was rushed and exhausting, and simple mistakes or missed cues became more common than they needed to be, inevitable side effects of nurses going on too much stress and lack of sleep.

Lastly, we differ from their opinion because we believe that instead of nurse-to-patient-ratios improving the patient safety, It also increases the cost of services. But the change cames at the price, A hospital clearly can’t up the ratio of nurses to patients unless it first hires more nurses.

Which is  means that you're spending a lot more money. And more overall costs of the health care system. The aforementioned research found out that costs are passed on to patients and finding specialty nurse or experienced professionals became difficult, because the new graduates who are targeted to meet the ratio are neither skilled nor experienced for some positions.
