BACKGROUND Ms. Sandali Perera has recently passed out as a graduate from an educational institute. She is planning to introduce an online female fashion brand named “Shenz Batik”. Sandali is finding it difficult to launch the brand online as she does not have any experience in digital marketing. Before launching the brand, she has briefly identified her target audience along with a couple of her competitors. She believes that her primary target audience is ‘working women’ who are living in Colombo and suburbs. She has also found out that there are couple of competitors who also promote similar products. 

In order to launch the online brand, she has checked the feasibility of having an ecommerce presence along with a website for her brand. However, she does not have enough financial capability to launch an ecommerce website. She is worried if she could ever launch her online brand. 

One of her friends has told that she needs to focus more on Instagram as a platform rather than Facebook. However, she is in a dilemma of not having a Facebook presence as it is the largest social media platform. Assume that you have been appointed as a digital marketing consultant for Ms. Sandali and help her to launch her brand with your expertise in digital marketing. 

 

TASK ONE 

As the first few steps of launching the brand online, you need to help Ms. Sandali to identify her objectives, define the customer profile and understand her competitors. 

1.1 Identify three (03) objectives related to launching the brand online. 

1.2 Prepare a customer profile for “Shenz Battik” by analyzing the consumer behaviour of online target audience. 

1.3 Conduct a comprehensive analysis of potential competitors for “Shenz Battik” in digital media. 

 

TASK TWO 

Since Ms. Sandali does not have enough financial power to launch an ecommerce website, she is worried whether she will be able to launch her brand online. 

2.1 Give advice to Ms. Sandali, on ways she can launch an online brand without having an ecommerce presence. 

2.2 With the knowledge you have accumulated throughout the course, identify key digital platforms the brand must have a presence.
