The aim of this assessment is for students to consider event evaluation in the context of the range of stakeholders involved in the planning and staging of events and available approaches to evaluate events including reflective practice. To achieve this outcome the assessment is designed in four sections:
a. Event evaluation – significance of evaluation for events
Students should research current academic literature to provide a background to event evaluation and to research current knowledge, trends and future challenges in this area. This should then lead into the following three examples of evaluation.
b. Peer Teamwork assessment 10
Event teams will discuss, reflect and peer assess their teamwork learning during the semester (Assessments 1 and 2). The teamwork rubric provides the criteria to support this assessment. As this is a peer assessment, active participation in the process is required, therefore attendance in class in the nominated week (discuss with your local tutor) is required. The teamwork evaluation is a team process that is assessed as an individual mark. Teams will need to provide sufficient explanation/justification in comments to support the awarding of marks. Students will need to complete the teamwork rubric including written comments to support their peer evaluations.
c. Critical self reflection
Consider the three phases of your WIL project’s event learning – the event conceptualisation, event planning, event staging and write a self-reflective.
d. Event Evaluation – the event, stakeholders, participants
Students will complete an event evaluation of nominated event (discuss with local tutor). Relevant stakeholders will be identified and event evolution process will be discussed in detail in class. Some considerations may include:
- How has the event achieved its objectives?
- How would you determine the event worth?
- Analysis the outcomes and impacts?
- Has the event considered ‘sustainability’?
- Recommendations for future event
