Part 1
Choose and research a manufactured/processed consumer item that you own (e.g. jacket, watch, wallet, bag, phone, food item and packaging etc.). Ensure that you choose an item that has sufficient detail on the manufacturer’s website to give a comprehensive description on its manufacturing supply chain, ingredients, and distribution that extends into the global business environment.
This assessment requires an understanding of the ‘external environment’ of an organisation which covers its supply chain, distribution, competitors, customers.
You also need to be able to identify the organisation’s culture and values, sustainability and corporate responsibility initiatives on their website or through research.

Use a spider-diagram to clearly show:
The complexity of the globalised supply-chain that relates to your chosen item.
The likely origin/s of the materials and parts used in the construction of the product.
Try and go as far back as possible to the diverse locations of the original source materials (e.g. polymers/plastics used in tech items can be linked to oil). Essentially, you are being asked to try and identify the ‘DNA’ of the item.
Place the chosen item in the centre of your spider diagram and work from there.
Remember, to also clearly identify the entity (e.g. company) responsible for the final production of the item (end product) as that will allow you to identify relevant stakeholders and explore the diverse nature of the supply-chain.
The spider-diagram can be created using software tools or drawn by hand on paper and inserted in your document as a photo.
See marking rubric below for criteria.

2.4a Create proposal for a new ethical and sustainable change for organisation/ manufacturer
Next you are asked to make recommendations for improving your product and the way it has been manufactured. This is to be a proposal for change that will focus on the need for more sustainable and ethical practices in its manufacturing processes/operational contexts.
2.4b Outline of key management strategies needed to implement this change
In your proposal for change, identify at least three specific management steps/ processes required to apply these ethical and/or sustainable changes. See models provided on Canvas for assistance.
2.5 Discussion on future challenges and changes for organisation/manufacturer
