Assignment Task:

Task description:
Drawing on IHRM concepts and theory examined in this course, this assessment requires students to evaluate contemporary IHRM challenges global HR executives face in managing human capital in both domestic and globalized contexts.

In some countries trade unions and industrial relations can constrain or benefit HR practices in overseas offices. Dowling et al (2016) highlight a major challenge for MNEs in respect to the reaction of Home Country consumers to allegations of unfair employment practices, poor consumer practices and financial breaches etc..

The Global HR Director, Hexaplex has asked you to carry out further research and provide a 2,000 word report discussing the Industrial relation characteristics of your chosen country and critically discussing the merits of a Global Code of Conduct.

Instructions

  1. Select one group Prezi that was uploaded for Assessment 2 (but not your own group).  Read and review the proposal presentation to better understand the cultural background and HR practices of the country.

  2. Using the group Prezi as a starting point, carry out further research to discuss the key IR characteristics for the country that you have chosen to review.

  3. Drawing on IHRM theory and contemporary literature examined in this course outline the impact the IR practices may have on the way Hexaplex conducts its HR activities/functions/structure.

  4. Critically discuss the merits of a ‘Global Code of Conduct’ and confirm whether Hexaplex should take a Global Code of Conduct approach.

Report structure

  • The report format should have an introduction, section headings and a conclusion.

  • There is no need for an executive summary.

  • A minimum of 10 academic sources are required and these are not included in the word count.  Academic sources are peer reviewed articles found in reputable industry journals and books.   Websites, newspaper or online articles are not considered academic sources, although they can be included but they are additional and do not contribute to the requirement of 10 academic sources.
