Poster Making Assignment Help:

Task:

Have you chosen a topic yet from the list? These are listed under the Symposium tab with an abridged form of these instructions and some links to help you prepare your poster. At the end of this document you will also see a small example of both a scientific poster and an ‘Infographic’ style poster. Both are acceptable forms of conveying information. I have even seen cartoon and anime versions of scientific posters. They were controversial at the time but at least the captured the interest of most of the scientists in the room. People like to be told a story

You will create a poster presentation for one of the following topics. The poster will be supported by a 2 minute oral synopsis of your poster.

Topic 1. Plant Disease impacts on food security : an introduction. This presentation should cover the general aspects of plant diseases on food security. In your presentation you should consider i) implications at the local, national and global scale including trade, economics and the environment, ii) different impacts for developed and developing country, iii) the extensiveness of some major diseases (as examples to illustrate your point), iv) strategies that have been used to manage plant disease impacts on food security.

Topic 2. Plant Diseases. This presentations looks at a single type of plant disease and should include some examples of the disease with a focus on those that are impacting on major staple foods and hence affecting food security most. Please choose 1 plant disease from the following types; Viruses, Bacteria, Fungal, Oomycetes, Nematodes, Parasitic Plants, Pests. Please consider a major 1 or 2 examples of your chosen disease to discuss and illustrate your points. You can consider economic, environmental and regulatory aspects of these impacts and management strategies.

Topic 6. Diseases – Management This presentation should discuss some of the overarching approaches to managing disease for food security. Your presentation should include some examples of how the techniques have been used both successfully and unsuccessfully, as well as a discussion of the long term implications of utilising the different management strategies.

Topic 7. Biosecurity : diagnostic tools and examples of success/failure. This presentation should look at how biosecurity works to ensure food security. Explain what biosecurity is. Using examples, your presentation should discuss the tools that are used to assess threats to food security from disease. Implications of policy decisions and regulation should be included.
