Assessment Task:
FIR Design Homework Engineering Assessment Answer

For each of the problems below, using windowing technique, show hand calculations of five of the corresponding ideal filter coefficients and five of the window values that you are selecting. If your design dictates the use of a Kaiser window, then you can use a computer to compute the Kaiser window values, but at least 5 of the corresponding ideal filter coefficients must be computed by hand.

Problem 1: Design a lowpass linear phase FIR filter with the following specifications.
Passband edge frequency of 25 Hz
Passband ripple of 0.3 dB
Stopband attenuation dB
' Sampling frequency 500 Hz.

Problem 2: Design a highpass linear phase FIR filter with the following specifications.
• Passband edge frequency of 100 Hz
• Passband ripple of 0.2 dB
• Stopband attenuation dB
o Sampling frequency 1000 Hz.

Problem 3: Design a bandpass linear phase FIR filter with the following specifications.
Passband width frequency of 50-150 Hz
' Passband ripple of 0.1 dB
Stopband attenuation >40 dB
Sampling frequency 1500 Hz.

Problem 4: Design a bandstop linear phase FIR filter with the following specifications.
Stopband width frequency of 60-120 Hz
Passband ripple of 0.15 dB
Stopband attenuation dB
Sampling frequency 1000 Hz.
