Pre-service teachers will develop and present two short activities that approach a mathematical concept taken from daily/everyday life. The concept map and each presentation will be posted on Learnline as an electronic resource containing links to appropriate websites and making effective use of appropriate software.
Presentations are to include:
• A clear description of the concept to be developed; with a clear concept map on a mathematical concept (from 7 -10)
• An introduction to the learning outcomes and challenges to be discussed
• Clear description of the target group
• A rationale for why this concept is important in the development of pre-service teachers’ mathematical knowledge including references to the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics; and
• A Lesson Plan with a clear description of the target group, incorporating
• Activities (at least two) and scaffolding and associated questions that help to develop understanding of the concept approached from two different (learning style) perspectives.
• A clear explanation and reflection on how this activity would be changed or modified with a focus on indigenous students/English Language learners.
• A review of the literature of significant theories, teaching models and issues related to teaching of Mathematics in years 7-10.

• A well-structured and informative well researched presentation, accompanied by an electronic resource that makes effective use of software and/or Websites with pedagogical justification; and
