You have been promoted to team supervisor of the customer service team at the retail outlet at SSS located in Torquay.  Your manager is Scott Hurtley but for the purposes of this task, your assessor will assume the role of your manager.

To complete the following tasks, draw on your own experiences where you worked as part of a team.  It is also recommended that you undertake additional research using a variety of methods.

Using the template provided, develop a performance plan for the customer service team that includes: 

  • A general statement that defines the team’s purpose
  • Identify at least two organisational goals
  • Identify at least three KPI’s for each goal
  • List activities to undertaken to achieve KPIs
  • Identify several resources that will assist in achieving goals
  • Set time frames
  1. Suggest three methods that you can provide to other team members to ensure that they meet their expected performance outcomes.  
  2. Suggest three strategies that a team supervisor can implement to ensure that their team meets their expected performance outcomes.
  3. Suggest at least two types of action that you could implement to engage team members to ensure that each team member actively contributes towards the planning and decision making and operational activities of the team.
  4. Suggest three methods how team members and individuals can identify and communicate issues, concerns or problems that may impact on performance in order for them to be resolved.
  5. Identify four performance problems that the team may experience.  One problem must relate to lack of training or learning.  Suggest what action and support will be provided to rectify each problem to ensure that team performance outcomes are met.  
  6. Suggest two methods of providing feedback to team members that will communicate and encourage their valued contributions to the team.
  7. Identify four ways how team members can serve as a role model to enhance the organisation’s image.
  8. Describe four ways how open communication can be established and maintained with internal and external stakeholders.
