Assessment Task Description:    

•    This is the second (2) assessment task you have to successfully complete to be deemed competent in this unit of competency. 
•    This assessment task requires you to develop an organisation development plan.
•    You are required to complete the following activities based on information provided in the given case study scenario. 
•    You will receive your feedback within two weeks - you will be notified by your trainer/assessor when results are available. 
•    You must attempt all activities of the project for your trainer/assessor to assess your competency in this assessment task.

 

Case Study: 

Qantas Airways is the flag carrier airline of Australia. Qantas' headquarter is located at the Qantas Centre in the Mascot suburb of Sydney, New South Wales. The Qantas Group's main business is the transportation of customers. As of March 2017, Qantas and its subsidiaries operate 285 aircraft which includes 72 aircraft by Jetstar Airways, 82 by the various QantasLink-branded airlines, 8 by Jet connect and 5 by Express Freighters Australia on behalf of Qantas Freight.

Qantas flies to 20 domestic destinations and 21 international destinations in 14 countries across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania excluding the destinations served by its various subsidiary airlines.

Qantas management is to ensure the successful completion of around 300,000 flights every year to 57 airports around Australia and to 86 destinations in 36 countries that is a massive task. It requires maintaining high levels of customer service and operational efficiency covering a comprehensive spectrum of business areas such as Engineering, Freight, Airports, flights and other Qantas various corporate business units. Given the diversity of the Group's operations, the management must frequent analyse operational data and making decisions for better marketing prediction and effective and efficient business operations.

Part A

The organisational plan is essential for decision making to increase the productivity of the business. The organisational plan helps to determine organisational business needs and objectives. Qantas airline wants to resolve the issues in their business operation by making an organisational development plan. Likewise, the management also intends to mitigate employee conflicts by finding a solution for organisational development.

In this task, you will be playing a role as a senior manager of Qantas airline. You are required to arrange the meeting with Qantas airline employees those are responsible for making organisational development plan.

1.  Analyse the strategic plans to determine organisation development needs and objectives.

Part A

In this task, it is required to implement organization development activities that we have developed in the organizational development plan. Implementation of organization development activities requires team development, training activities, a consultative process in the organization development process.

The employees of Qantas Airline have some conflicts within the, and it is necessary to mitigate conflicts by implementing organization development activities. It is essential to facilitate the group to resolve the problems and manage the conflict between individuals.  In this task, you will be playing a role as a Senior manager and require implementing activities for organization development.

As a Senior Manager of Qantas Airlines, you are required to undertake and implement the various organization development activities. Arrange the meeting with your co-workers and implement the following activities--

1.    surveys with other employees and management team to identify any loss of support for organisational development programs and activities. 
2.    create the communication plan to maintain regular meetings with the team in accordance with a communication plan that developed in the previous task.
