Assessment Task:

ASSESSMENT 1: Observation

For this task you will be observed in text conditions undertaking a touch typing examination Your assessor will provide you with appropriate equipment and text, and provide detailed instructions at the start of your assessment.

After the warm-up period, the supervisor shall give candidates the following instructions:

  •  Allow for a 65-space line.
  •  Set the line spacing at one-and-a-half or double spacing.
  •  Align text on the left margin. Full justification, if available, shall not be used.
  •  At the top of the page key in your name or examination number, the date, and equipment used.

o NOTE TO SUPERVISOR: At this point, time should be allowed for Items
(a), (b) and (c) to be executed by all candidates.

  • Use the word wrap facility, if available, or copy the test material line for line.
  •  You may correct errors if you wish. Well-executed corrections will not be penalized, but remember that correction of errors may lead to a lower speed.
  •  The test will be of five minutes’ duration. Precisely five minutes after the instruction to begin I shall say ‘stop’.
  •  If you complete the passage, begin again.

ASSESSMENT 2: Project

Part A
You are to produce 2 different documents in a draft format. Each document is to be of a different format, and is to serve a purpose in a business. Each document must be of a different format. You may choose from the following formats:
• Emails

• Forms
• Letters

• Memos
• Minutes of meetings

• Tables

• Organisational templates or proformas for letters, memos or reports

For workplace based students - you should refer to your workplace for suitable documents. In the event that you are unable to find suitable documents within your
workplace - your supervisor will supply documents for you for this task It is important that you consider the purpose of each document. Purposes may include (but are not limited to)

• Clarification of issues • Communication about meetings or events
• Information • Minutes/outcomes of meetings
• Request for information, advice or assistance • Statements of fact
• Straightforward advice

Part B
Now that you have produced 2 different draft documents, you are to review each one for accuracy and compliance with organisational requirements. Once completed,
you are to have each draft proofread by your Assessor (who is to sign the reviews once read)

Part C
Finally, you are to produce each draft as a final document, and provide them to your assessor.
