Subject Code : BHS20008
Assignment Task :

PART A A researcher is interested how people can maintain life satisfaction in times of ongoing stress. The researcher thinks that perhaps mindfulness, which refers to being present and engaged in the present moment, could be helpful for maintaining life satisfaction in times of stress. The researcher recruits 20 participants and randomly allocates 10 participants to Condition 1 and 10 participants to Condition 2. The participants in Condition 1 receive 12 weeks of an online mindfulness intervention. The participants in Condition 2 don’t receive the intervention (i.e., they are in the control condition). The researcher then asks all participants to complete a measure of life satisfaction because the researcher wants to test whether the participants in Condition 1 score significantly differently on life satisfaction to those in Condition 2.

PERFORMANCE EVIDENCE

Accurately summarise relevant descriptive statistics for the test.
2. Clearly introduce the test, what it was used for, and how it was conducted.
3. Present the results of the test clearly, accurately, and precisely using convention. Report what is necessary for the interpretation of the test and for a reader to fully understand the inferential analysis conducted.
4. Clearly present an accurate confidence interval for the point estimate.
5. Provide and interpret an accurate and appropriate estimate of the effect size.
6. Use correct APA formatting, including overall formatting (Times New Roman,
7-point font, double-spaced, indent first line of the paragraph), correct grammar and spelling, correct statistical symbols and abbreviations, correct presentation of numbers, correct citations and reference list as needed.

PART B
An educational psychologist reads some research that shows that positive emotions relate to better study habits. As consequence, she wants to find a way to enhance students’ positive emotions.
She asks 10 students to complete a scale that measures their positive emotions.
She then teaches the 10 students how to prioritise positivity in their day-to-day life and asks the 10 students to prioritise positivity each day for the next three weeks.
After the three week intervention, the educational psychologist asks the 10 students to complete the positive emotions scale again.
The educational psychologist wants to see if there is a statistically significant difference on positive emotion scores for before and after the prioritising positivity intervention
