Part 1: Review of AI in polygraph systems.
A polygraph, popularly referred to as a liar detector test, is a system that combines reaction of interviewer including blood pressure, gesture, respiration, and posture when answering a series of questions. Although the questions in the probable lie test are used to obtain a reaction from liars, the physiological reactions that identify liars may also occur in innocent individuals who fear a false detection or feel passionately that they did not commit the crime. Therefore, although a physiological reaction may be occurring, the reasoning behind the response is crucial. AI algorithms chip in as the reasoning mechanism of the system to improve the reliability and accuracy of the result.
In this assignment, you are expected to produce a report of 5 to 8 pages and develop a simple programme using Prolog to identify a liar as in Part 2. The report should review the applications of the AI algorithms in the polygraph system. Please use Arial font and font size of 12. A hard copy must be handed to the Computing School Office. For late submission of this Assignment, a penalty of a reduction by 10% of the maximum mark may be applicable for each Calendar Day or part thereof that the submission is late. An Assignment submitted more than TEN Calendar Days after the deadline will have a mark of zero recorded for this Assignment. Marks will be allocated based on the components on the marking rubrics as attached. It is advisable to follow a proper citing method such as Harvard referencing method as it may affect the total marks.
Part 2: Detecting a liar!

While marking reports, two of the reports are found with very similar content. Both students, namely Amy and Brian, are called to the school office for an investigation. Based on the following scenarios, develop a programme using Prolog to spot the liar:
Scenario 1:
Amy: “I copied Brian’s report.”
Brian: “…”
Scenario 2:
Amy: “My report is original.”
Brian: “Mine as well”
Scenario 3:
Amy: “We copied each other.”
Brian: “…”
Scenario 4:
Amy: “Brian’s report is original.”
Brian: “We don’t copy each other”
