About this assessment (step-by-step instructions)
This assessment requires you to have access to a community sector organisation. In this assessment, you are required to develop and implement a change management strategy to address the change identified in practical assessment 1. This assessment is made up of four (4) parts:
• Part A: Develop a change management strategy
• Part B: Consult with stakeholders
• Part C: Develop a communication plan
• Part D: Implement the change management strategy

 

Part A: Develop a change management strategy
In part A of this assessment, you are required to develop a change management strategy for the change you identified in practical assessment 1. To do this, you need to:
1. Develop a change management strategy to be used to address the change you identified in practical assessment Your strategy must be at least 300 words and include the following:
• a) Proposed change: A description of the proposed change to be implemented.
• b) Cost-benefit analysis: A cost-benefit analysis that details the costs involved in the implementation of the change and the benefits of its implementation within the organisation.
• c) Risk analysis: A risk analysis that identifies potential risks that could arise in implementing the change, as well as possible solutions and contingencies for the risks
identified.
• d) Project plan: A project plan that outlines a timetable for the implementation of the change in the organisation, including details of the resources (physical and human)
required to implement the change strategy. Include a high-level team structure for the project team implementing this strategy.
• e) Reporting protocols: An overview of the reporting protocols for the strategy. so ensure that the proposed strategy is realistic and is able to be implemented in the community sector organisation.

 

Part B: Consult with stakeholders
In part B of this assessment, you are required to consult with two (2) stakeholders from the community sector organisation about the change strategy you developed in part A and document your findings from this consultation. To do this, you need to:
1. Consult with two  (2) stakeholders from the organisation to obtain feedback on the change strategy you developed in part A. One (1) of these stakeholders should be a manager and one (1) should be an employee (if possible, someone who will be impacted by the change being proposed). During the consultation you should:

• Show the stakeholders your change management strategy and discuss any updates that need to be made.
• Discuss any barriers that may occur in implementing the strategy and solutions to address them.
• Discuss the development of a communication plan for the roll out of this strategy, including stakeholder ideas on how your change strategy could be communicated and
promoted within the organisation (Note: This will be useful for part C of this assessment).
• Review the reporting protocols with the manager and obtain their approval for the change.

2. Update the change management strategy as a result of the consultation and ask the manager to sign off on the updated strategy.

 

Part C: Develop a communication plan
In part C of this assessment, you are required to develop a communication plan to accompany the rollout of your change strategy into the community sector organisation.
To do this, you need to:
1. Develop a communication plan to be used to promote your change strategy which outlines the benefits of the change to the organisation. Your communication plan should be at least 300 words and include the following:
• a) Overview: Provide a brief overview of the change to be implemented.
• b) Rationale: Provide a description of why the change has been proposed (e.g. will it minimise any loss or increase productivity?).
• c) Employees involved: Identify those involved and effected by the change.
• d) Key messages: Outline the main points of the change strategy (e.g. what, where, when, why, how it will be rolled out).
• e) Communication channels: Describe the communication channels to provide information about the change to stakeholders, e.g. emails, website, newsletters.
• f) Timeline: Provide a timeline of activities to be rolled out in the workplace to deliver your communication strategy, e.g. team meetings, emails, follow up meetings with employees or managers. Your activities should include strategies that will not only communicate the change being rolled out, but embed it effectively in the organisation long-term.

 

Part D: Implement the change management strategy
In part D of this assessment, you are required to implement your change management strategy in the community sector organisation. To do this, you need to:

1. Identify a manager within the organisation who has the authority to approve and sponsor your change (i.e. someone you can work closely with during its implementation). Discuss the size and impact of the change and determine the best way forward, e.g. who will be involved, how it will be managed.
2. Implement the change management strategy.
3. Follow the project plan timetable you created in part A step 1d, including the strategies for embedding the change long-term into the organisation.
3. Monitor the progress of the change over a period of two (2) weeks, providing change management support where required.
4. After a period of two (2) weeks, evaluate the success of the change implementation. Write a report of at least 300 words that includes the following:
• a) Overview: Describe the change and the implementation process you followed, including an overview of the strategies you used to embed the change in the organisation.
• b) Observations: Describe your observations of how the change implementation was received by members of the organisation.
• c) Barriers: Describe any barriers to change encountered during the two (2) weeks, and how they were addressed.
• d) Success and improvement: Describe any successes and areas for improvement you identified during the two weeks.
• e) Changes: Detail any changes needed to the project plan or change strategy.
